12th August 2026 - an important day in our life – we have a solar eclipse, the Perseid meteor shower, a New Moon called - Ādi Amāvāsyā”.
Spiritually, Amavasya + eclipse = gives us a very strong theme:
Reveal → Release → Receive → Rewrite the Lineage.
From a very long time, I have been very curious about ancestors. It all started when I was learning the art form Neurographica and through this art form, I tapped into the energies of 7 generations of paternal and maternal ancestors. From there, I have created the B&C Miracle Method Ancestral workshop, as well as B&C Miracle Method Honoring Ancestors.
Today, 12th August 2026, we get a special chance to honor our ancestors. It reminds me of what Bert Hellinger says, founder of Family Constellations:
“When we honor our ancestors, we receive their strength.”
You did not begin with you. You are part of a much longer journey. Our ancestors, their knowledge, their way of life, their skills, their burdens, their unfinished longings, their wrongdoings, their karmic settlement, are carried down from one generation to another until they are finally closed.
I would like to tell you my own personal story.
From the longest time, I wanted to play the piano, and I remember asking my parents to learn. At that time, only the grand piano was available, and my mother said I don’t know if you will be committed enough to learn for such an investment (now this is only a memory, may not even be factual. I was probably only 6 or 7 years old).
Life happened, I got married, I enrolled my 2 kids for music lesson, my daughter played the piano and my son the guitar. After a while they also grew out of playing. I had a 3rd daughter and what do I do, I also enroll her for piano lesson. She hated going for piano lessons, but her teacher said she was exceptional, that once she heard a tune she could play it back on the piano.
I turned 55, and I was truly fed up of the same broken record I would say that I wished I had learnt to play the piano, but now I am too old. Taking up the courage I enrolled for piano lessons and started to play and that inner completion at last felt whole.
6 months later, I led an art meditation on the topic “Gifting the ancestors”. During that meditation, I gifted my mother a piano. I was truly taken a back at what showed up, as I never ever thought that my mother had an interest in learning to play an instrument. I spoke to my mother, and she said that when she was growing up she had a grand piano, had learnt on it for a while, but because her sister was sick and her father was posted at different places, she had to give up playing.
I then realized that my mother’s unfulfilled desire/longing had played out with her grandchildren, great grand children and her child (me).
My older brother's 2 children played the guitar and clarinet and his grandson is amazing on the piano.
Myself - my 2 daughters learnt the piano, my son the guitar, me the piano.
My twin brother - his 3 kids played the piano and his son is super amazing and playing, teaching piano is his career path. His 1st daughter is a percussionist musican and his 3rd daughter also studying and still forming her musical career.
My younger brother's 2 sons both played the piano.
My sister - her children did not go into anything musical only sports.
So, the longing played out through 12 people. Isn’t this amazing,
To Conclude - We inherit more from our families than our appearance, our names or our traditions. We inherit stories, and sometimes, we inherit stories that were never completed.
In Hindu traditions, honoring one’s ancestors is connected with gratitude, remembrance and one’s relationship with the family lineage.
But spiritually, we can understand ancestral honoring at several levels.
We honor those who lived before us because, in some way, their lives made ours possible.
They survived things we may never know about.
They made choices that changed the direction of the family.
They experienced love, grief, sacrifice, disappointment, courage and hope.
Some may have healed great wounds. Others may have passed their wounds forward.
Honoring our ancestors does not mean pretending that every ancestor was perfect. It does not mean approving of everything that happened within a family. It simply means recognizing:
I belong to a lineage. I acknowledge what came before me. And from this point onward, I choose consciously.
Ādi Amāvāsyā is a sacred opportunity to honor those who came before us — while consciously choosing what we want to carry forward.
In the Tamil tradition, Ādi Amāvāsyā is the New Moon, or Amavasya, that falls during the Tamil month of Aadi. It is considered one of the especially important times of the year for remembering and honoring one’s ancestors.
And this day is an invitation to sit at the meeting point between the past and the future and ask:
What has been travelling through my lineage that is ready to end with me?
Money struggles?
Unhappy relationships?
Silence?
Over-giving?
Fear?
Addiction?
Anger?
Self-sacrifice?
Not feeling worthy?
Women abandoning their dreams?
Men carrying everything alone?
People never expressing love?
Fear of being seen?
Fear of success?
Spiritual disconnection?
For me it was the longing to play the piano, the thought that I am too old to learn and the belief that I make myself wrong for not completing things I start.
Your lineage also gave you gifts.
Perhaps you inherited creativity.
Business ability.
Faith.
Intuition.
Resilience.
Healing abilities.
Humour.
Someone prayed for a better future. Someone dreamed of opportunities they never personally received. Perhaps you are living inside one of those prayers.
For me some of my ancestral gifts is healing abilities, heightened intuition, cooking skills, organizational abilities, art and craft, empathy.
To Conclude - Ādi Amāvāsyā is therefore not only about clearing the past. It is also about recognizing the strength, wisdom, talents that has travelled through generations to reach you.
Sit somewhere peaceful.
Light a candle.
Take three slow breaths.
Place your hands over your heart.Imagine yourself becoming completely present.
Say quietly:
I honour those who walked before me. I honor the lives that made my life possible.
I acknowledge my lineage with gratitude, compassion and peace. I give each one of you a place - in my body, in my emotions and in my life.
Bring to mind your parents, your grandparents.Your great-grandparents. Continue further back even if you do not know their names. Imagine generations standing behind generations. You do not need to know their stories.
Simply acknowledge their existence.
Allow yourself to feel: I came through all of you.
Think about what has reached you because of your lineage.
Perhaps it is a quality.
A spiritual tradition.
An opportunity.
A piece of wisdom.
A talent.
A relationship.
A value.
A language.
A homeland.
Or simply the gift of life itself.
Say:
Thank you for the gift of life, I honor all that came before me, I receive the wisdom and strength of my lineage.
With love and respect for everyone who came before me, I release what no longer needs to continue through me. The lesson may remain. The wisdom may remain. The love may remain. But the suffering does not need to continue.
I carry forward only what serves love, healing and my highest good.
The rest I leave with you. I take only that is mine
1. Clear blocks to consciously choosing what I want to carry forward.
2. Clear (Money struggles, relationship negative patterns, addictions, etc.) that has been travelling through my lineage and negatively impacting my life.
3. Clear inherited struggles that have travelled through generations
4. Clear the belief that I must repeat my family’s experiences in order to belong.
5. Clear blocks to close, complete and resolve the loyalties that I have committed to my ancestors.
6. Clear blocks to receive the talents and abilities available through my lineage.
7. Clear blocks to create a new relationship with money and abundance within my lineage.
8. Clear blocks to create allowance and acceptance that can continue beyond me.
9. Clear blocks to create a new story based on love, wisdom, abundance, freedom and conscious choice.
Ahead of us are possibilities we cannot yet see.
We cannot rewrite everything that happened before us.
But we can NOW decide what happens through us.
Perhaps one of the deepest ways we can honor our ancestors is not simply by remembering them, perhaps we honor them by taking everything they learned, everything they endured, everything they passed down and creating something more conscious from it.
